Abstrak

The global energy landscape is undergoing a profound transformation driven by geopolitical
shifts, push for low-carbon solutions, and emerging technologies. As countries, particularly
China, move towards a more sustainable energy future, industries, especially petroleum and
mining, face significant challenges in adapting to these changes. The Annual Report on China’s
Petroleum, Gas and New Energy Industry (2022–2023), edited by China International United
Petroleum & Chemicals Co., Ltd., the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Peking
University, explores the shifting global energy landscape with a focus on China’s evolving role.
Spanning 21 chapters and contributions from 38 experts, this book examines key issues such as
energy security, market volatility, and the transition to renewable energy. It delves into
petroleum, natural gas, and emerging solutions, such as hydrogen and biofuels.
